I had a dream

Last night, I dreamed that due to a massive amount of post-exam stress and the resulting consummate disorientation, I freaked out, boarded a plane (because I honestly thought I HAD to), and flew home to America in June. The plan has always been to stay until July. It appeared in dream world that I thought it actually was time to go.

I got home, realized it was June and was so sad. Icky pit in stomach sad. WHY did I come home a month early?!?!?

I boarded the plane in such haste that I didn't say goodbye or pack properly or anything. I wanted to fly back immediately - "How could this happen?!? This was a mistake!" - But, alas, it was the end of my year and my funds had run out and I couldn't go back. In front of me were gigantic loan repayments and joblessness to add to my icky pit in stomach sadness.

Maybe, subconsciously I never want to leave Rome? Consciously and subconsciously I know I don't want loans + joblessness.

Anyway, this morning, I woke with less full-body soreness than any other night previous (I have a pretty bad mattress/bed/pillow) and I was still in Rome... and went to click on the weather for the day and the little tab said "Roma" and my heart leapt a little - "I LIVE IN ROME!" - and I realized that despite whatever fleeting emotional waves come due to my rigorous studies or lack of social life, I have a deep underlying joy at being here. Which is very consistent with something the Lord told me right before coming: "This will be a year of my joy."

And, on top of all that, the weather = SUN for the next two days... and mostly sunny ALL WEEK! Remarkable I hear for November (seriously it has monsoon rained since November first). Last year, it rained 27 days straight. I think it's just Murphy having a laugh since I just bought galoshes Monday. I used to poo poo rain boots being a fashion statement at home. But I got plain sick of being perpetually cold, wet, and soggy from the knee down. I guess that qualifies as being totally utilitarian and in no way associated with fashion.... although, my boots ARE cute.

Have a great Wednesday... and if you're in Ann Arbor or Lansing, go to Espresso Royale and get a $2 latte. I mean, it's fall and there are cheap lattes about - enjoy them! And I am not even working for them anymore, that's how much I believe in the inherent goodness of a cheap latte (especially from ERC).

Much <3 - E
