Bowling. Fanta. Rome. Love.

My roommate is watching "So You Think You Can Dance" on her computer right now. It is tantalizing. I want to watch! Instead I am reading about the divisions of philosophical thought since the Greeks/Plato/Aristotle. I am listening to the Lord of the Rings soundtrack. Studying philosophy is not exactly like the epic tale of the battle for Middle Earth. But, it feels like it. And the music triggers in me thoughts of heroism, journeys for the greater good of all mankind, love, friendship, purpose, overcoming difficulty, and setting about the task to which you are called. Thoughts I find I need in this academic challenge... that and the background noise keeps me from tuning to the Nigel's muted commentary on the dancers. :-)

Fanta is something I never had at home. I am convinced Europeans put something drug-like in it. I can't stop drinking it. It has more fruit-juice in it than most American fruit "juice" drinks. This is how I justify it. Tonight, while playing a rousing game of backgammon with my neighbor over one of my less-exciting pasta sauce experiments, I proclaimed "Oh man! I really want some fanta!" Then, I hear the door open. In walks my other neighbor, with the biggest bottle of fanta I've ever seen! FOR ME! I stare. Dumbfounded. Awed. The two girls who'd heard my proclamation moments before burst out laughing. #1 - how stinking thoughtful? #2 - what the heck? that was miraculous timing. Seriously. And the day prior I had been silently lamenting the fact that it seemed due to pure initiation on my part that I ever saw any of these girls b/c they never came over to MY place. Silly how selfish we can sometimes get if we stew too long in a position that is entirely turned inward. And how sweet to be reminded such a way that this simply is not true, and I am, in fact, blessed abundantly by my Roman friends.

I feel that perhaps I should leave you hanging by only covering perhaps the single least tantalizing of the four words that compose tonight's title. I decided my posts are way too long. And unless you are a marathon reader, or someone who loves me A LOT, you probably aren't inspired to get to the bottom... so, I will keep it short and sweet and you can wait until the next post to hear about bowling. and Rome. and LOOOOOOVE. sufficiently hooked? good. That's how it ought to be.

  1. I was hooked even before the current post. Of course I'm not left hanging because it's been so long the subsequent posts are posted and all I have to do is finish commenting and read them. Hmmm I'll be getting on with that then.
