macaroni!

Tonight, while walking home, I pondered what I should make for my dinner.

I came up with this:

Gouda Macaroni with sausage and broccoli and homemade bread crumbs.

Yep. And then I made it. All from scratch, except the bread... ok. And the noodles. I don't really have the resources for that (i.e. oven).

YES! Success! It is so tasty. I even "tempered" an egg for the first time to make my cheese sauce. That was exciting. And also successful.

So, I decided that Italy is certainly not making me lazy in the cooking department. You have to work harder... to get your ingredients, to make your dinner. There just isn't an easy way out (frozen pizza, microwave dinner). I would never have made my own bread crumbs before. They sell those! Why bother! You know?

Anyway. I'm just trying new things and thinking outside the box and it is kind of fun, although time consuming.

OK. Now that I am full and tired... I'm off to bed.

  1. I love that you're experimenting with your cooking. and i do think italy makes cooking a lot more interesting than here - with the ability to just pull something out of a box and have dinner. Way to go!!
